The white PSP Go console is the evident result of the hard work of the Sony engineers to create a pocket sized multimedia powerhouse. The white PSP Go console maintains all the features of the earlier versions of the PSP but cutting down on the excess baggage of the UMD.

If there is something that has changed radically in addition to the design, it is the way the new PSP handles multimedia.

The Go comes with a revamped version of the Sony Media Manager called the Media Go. The Media Go is capable of seamlessly transferring movies, music and photos to the white PSP Go.

Another application that is worth a mention is the SensMe, a mood based music recommendation engine. The application works uses the SensMe channels developed by Sony and categorizes music stored on the device into channels such as channels such as “Relax,” “Dance” and “Upbeat. The application lets users enjoy music via a rich user interface and also recommends playlists to depending upon the mood set by the user.

Remote Play
The PSP Go features the Remote play functionality that allows the Go to act as a remote control to the PS3. Play music and movies, view photos and slideshows, even turn off and turn on the PS3 console via the WLAN, home network or the internet with this feature.

Gaming on the White PSP Go Console


A variety of games have been announced which have been built specially for the PSP Go. The console supports both the single player and multiplayer options. Some of the most awaited games for the PSP Go in 2009 are: Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, MotorStorm Arctic Edge, and SOCOM Fire Team Bravo 3.

Multiplayers can join in for a quick bout using the PSP’s local connectivity or jump on to the internet through a Wi-Fi hotspot for a complete multiplayer gaming experience.

It is not yet known whether the PSP Go console users will be able to use the built in Bluetooth capabilities for multiplayer gaming.

PlayStation Store
In the absence of the UMD, the PlayStation Network now plays a very significant role in getting media into the PSP Go. Armed with a PlayStation Network account, you can login directly via the PSP Go to the Store and download music, movies, game demos and add-ons. You can also buy games and transfer them via the Media Go application to the PSP Go.

DLNA
The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a global collaboration of companies all working together to make electronic devices work together seamlessly. The PSP Go is able to connect to the DLNA certified TV, computer and digital video recorder.
The PSP Go can easily interface with the TV for playing movies stored on the PSP Go.

Internet connectivity
The PSP Go console can connect to the internet using it's built in Wi-Fi capabilities. The browser of the PSP Go is an embedded micro browser. A scaled down version of the NetFront browser, the browser supports most web technologies like http cookies, CSS and JavaScript and flash. The browser can fit in pages very comfortable on the screen of the Go using the 3 available modes of Normal, best fit and just fit.

The browser is excellent displaying crisp images and the right colors. Even though the PSP comes without a physical keypad, typing isn’t much of a problem. Shortcuts are provided for common strings like common strings such as http:// and .com which have been given their own keys. The PSP also remembers every website accessed and hence urls need not be typed completely after the first time.

The JavaScript and flash lend the web 2.0 feel to the internet browsing experience.
